Ruined city contest results!

This page presents all the entries received during the ruined city contest, which took place on the Creeper's Lab from February 22nd to March 22nd, 2014. This took place on a development in the new regions of the world, forcing a city called Stone Ville. The entries are listed below from the highest to the lowest score.

Three judges, Dr. Cossack, iKatze and MediaKlepto evaluated each entry on a note from 0 to 10. Criteras included how well the building followed the given theme (ruined area, downtown city core), how realistic it looked, the realistic size of each building and the attention to details inside and outside (if applicable). Additionally, the judges provided comments to explain how each house was rated.

Dr. Cossack: Did people get murdered, here!? I'd honestly be curious to see a clean version of this building, it has a nice floor layout. Clever idea to make this a building of "new" apartments: they can be empty as designed.

MediaKlepto: Love the giant tree, and the little aesthetic touches really make it work even without the texture pack suggested.

Dr. Cossack: The boarded up doors and windows are a really nice touch, and the supply shed is a nice addition. I can imagine the unbroken version of this in an urban setting.

MediaKlepto: Really enjoying these apartments! The condemned signs and the boarded windows were a great idea.

Anon's Factory

Dr. Cossack: You've nailed the old factory look, and it's appropriately run down. I wouldn't recommend that basement to people who suffer from claustrophobia!

MediaKlepto: I love how the natural elements have taken over. It looks like it's been this way for a while!

Dr. Cossack: I'd hate to know what kind of disaster caused those ravines to open all around the building. I like the pre-McNuggets far down in the basement! Shame there's no drive-through - at least there's plenty of parking space.

MediaKlepto: What could be more post-apocalyptic than fast food? :D It fits right into the scheme of things and it's really wonderfully detailed.

Dr. Cossack: Your floor is sagging! Nice use of jungle wood underneath, it has the perfect texture for the job. The balcony has a nice layout that I might replicate eventually.

MediaKlepto: I love the collapsed floor and the leaking water tank. The use of cracked brick really brings it together.

Salifax: 7.17 / 10
Eric Stone Memorial Park

Dr. Cossack: Giant fountain! I'm happy to see there's a hidden entrance, I was looking for one. The unbroken floor pattern looks a bit repetitive for a real park, but you have benches. Benches are good.

MediaKlepto: Every city needs a park, even if it IS filled with muck and zombies. :P Great use of varied materials.

Dr. Cossack: You have some of the best broken floors, with plenty of holes and debris to walk on. I especially like the landing pad and the helicopter overhead.

MediaKlepto: I like the look of the lab, and the way the floors are collapsed. The non-functional machine room is a great detail!

Doomed Refugee Camp

Dr. Cossack: Your area has a very busy look with a huge variety of blocks, which works great as a destroyed building that now serves as a survival bunker. The "SOS" sign is a nice touch.

MediaKlepto: I like the addition of the quarantine area in the upper floor! I shudder to think what went on up there.

doorgunnerjgs: 6.67 / 10
Church of Fallen Saints
Preview Preview

Dr. Cossack: This church is a dangerous death trap - fall into the floor and you're stuck, waiting for your inevitable doom! The large use of wood works well for this type of building, although some remains of stained glass windows would have added a nice touch.

MediaKlepto: The way the natural lava was incorporated works really well, and that's definitely worth some kudos! Was it Smitten By God, by any chance?

Dr. Cossack: I like it! Several stories, each with a theme, and plenty of destruction and damage leftovers. No comments about the name.

MediaKlepto: The furnished areas in this look really good, and I like the busted sides. Even with all the pink it fails to be too cute in all the commotion!

Andromedea1: 6.17 / 10
Stone Ville Space Needle
Preview Preview

Dr. Cossack: The tower is a good idea and the ground area is properly wrecked. The place is a nice touch, but cobble is a strange meterial for it. Unfortunately, you overstepped on the sidewalk!

MediaKlepto: The plane is a great touch, and you can tell a lot of work went into shaping the tower, but as a space needle I feel like it maybe could have been taller.

MagicMarker101: 6.17 / 10
Petronas Tower 2

Dr. Cossack: I like the look of the Petronas Towers and the height you gave them, but the insides look quite barren. At least some broken furniture, or cobble mixed in with the stone floors would have helped on that front.

MediaKlepto: This looks wonderfully broken, especially the top of the tower. The inside looks nicely collapsed too, but it's lacking a lot of interior work.

Septina: 6 / 10
Gas station

Dr. Cossack: I like the gas station idea, I've been meaning to do a similar one myself. It's too bad you ran out of time for it. It's not derelict at all!

MediaKlepto: With the price of gas these days, who's surprised this place is abandoned? It feels a little empty though, but it fits the city theme well.

Petronas Tower 1

Dr. Cossack: I like the look of the Petronas Towers and the height you gave them, but the insides look quite barren. At least some broken furniture, or cobble mixed in with the stone floors would have helped on that front.

MediaKlepto: Something tells me I've seen this somewhere before...It's missing some of the interior work that the other "half" of the building does though.

epyoncustom: 5.33 / 10
epyon custom hotel A BAOA QU
Preview Preview

Dr. Cossack: The hotel has a nice size and the stairs look neat, but there's too much stone everywhere. Wood panneling, or maybe quartz in the bathrooms would help to break the monotony. Loved the abandoned journal.

MediaKlepto: It's a rather large cobble box on the outside, but the inside is rather nicely done. The presidential suite looks very much like a last resort hideout.

nikkehammerfist: 5 / 10
Stone Ville Motel

Dr. Cossack: Fun idea, but how do you get from room to room? Assuming the building wasn't damaged, there are no spaces for doors, or stairs for the second level. The coffin with the skeleton really amused me!

MediaKlepto: It looks pretty unfinished, and the whole upstairs looks untouched. That does make it look abandoned, but it pales a little.

Mikey_el16: 5 / 10
Canada's Bunker EH!

Dr. Cossack: Fun building shape, it looks like a tourist attraction! The first floor is sadly empty, but the bunk beds up top are a nice touch.

MediaKlepto: Not...Entirely sure what to say about this one. Uh...Maple syrup, eh?

Dannerbean: 3.5 / 10

Dr. Cossack: It says "all welcome", but there's no entrance! Also, your basement oversteps the lots limits in at least two spots! The tower has an impressive height, but seems very much like a work in progress still.

MediaKlepto: Underfinished but I like the height of it. A collapsing skyscraper would have been a nice touch.

RadmanZ: 1 / 10

Dr. Cossack: Trees! There are trees!

iKatze: 2 ingenious references to "the happening".

MediaKlepto: It's very...Naturey, at least. And empty.

Two buildings were also made in Stone Ville in the spirit of the contest, but weren't officially entered as the builders had previous knowledge on the contest before its beginning.

Dr. Cossack: That green laser looks nuts. The split in the middle is expertly done, but the floors are sadly empty. Maybe having fewer of them would have given you more time for furnishing?
