Nether City contest results!
This page presents all the entries received during the Nether City contest, which took place on the Creeper's Lab from October 5th to 18th 2013. This all happened within the new city called Muncie. The entries are listed below from the highest to the lowest score.
Three judges, Anonymous_SoFar, Dr. Cossack, WindRider739 evaluated each entry on a note from 0 to 10. Criteras included how well the building followed the given theme, how realistic it looked, and the attention to details inside and outside. Additionally, the judges provided comments to explain how each house was rated.
Anonymous_SoFar: Very creative, a construction site is unique in this setting.
Dr. Cossack: Everything seems to be here! I wanted to suggest adding a bulldozer, but it's already parked near the structure. I'm especially fond of the crane.
WindRider739: Creativity, use of space, realism, resourcefulness... this has all kinds of good things. My personal favorite.
Muncie Museum of Modern Art
Anonymous_SoFar: Love the art museum. its nice and lit brightly, and rather creative decoration.
Dr. Cossack: The quartz and red clay happen to go together quite well, and the indoor decoration is nice.
WindRider739: Amazing use of colors and materiels. Surprisingly this is the same layout as the art museum in the REAL LIFE Muncie. Clever, well laid out, good use of space, and you resisted the urge to go overboard.
Dr. Cossack: Offering one the best Nether views on the server, the size of this statue is impressive! The stairs are a bit wonky to walk on, but the same could be said of any old-styled monument.
WindRider739: Great concept and surprisingly good representation given the space. I especially like the pedastal. I half expected a beating heart inside in reference to the GTA 4 easter egg. Unfortunately the lot size worked against you when it came to statue detail.
The Creepers Bazaar
Anonymous_SoFar: Very complicated. Not really sure what exactly it was until hard investigation. Needs more manual, otherwise it looks pretty.
Dr. Cossack: Impressive, you have a knack for making those building spaces look bigger than they really are! I feel like I need a user manual for some of these devices, though.
WindRider739: Outstanding concept and good execution. Unfortunately the roof is unfinished and it's hard to get in if you don't know how. Instructions unclear; nose caught in door.
Anonymous_SoFar: All of the foliage and a strip bar, classy.
Dr. Cossack: I'm not 100% sure what this is supposed to be, but the bright colors help it stand out in the Nether's moody colors. The tree foliage is well detailed and is a great centerpiece!
WindRider739: I have no clue what this is but it looks awesome. Clever use of materials.
Anonymous_SoFar: Very creative, a museum for a small city. The name is pretty funny too, although it seems a bit unfinished.
Dr. Cossack: The recreation of various elements from the server is a great idea for a museum! I also like the entry gate and the top dome.
WindRider739: The concept was amazing and I love the layer by layer design but it feels empty and unfinished.
The Creeper Mall
Anonymous_SoFar: A mall, nice. It feels more empty than complete. although it is nice.
Dr. Cossack: I enjoy the mall's overall shape and layout, it does look like a miniature mall. The overuse of nether brick makes it look way dark, however. Mixing in an extra material would have helped.
WindRider739: The concept was great, and the layout is perfect, but I can't tell if it's a lack of color or if it just seems empty that makes the mall feel exactly like the real life muncie mall - empty and closed.
Anonymous_SoFar: I like the bank, but it has a sewage problem. THERE IS POO ALL OVER THE FLOOR.
Dr. Cossack: The bank idea is a good one, and the chests setup is sound. I'm not the biggest fan of netherrack and soul sand as an outdoor building material, however, and that unsecured flowing lava looks deadly!
WindRider739: Good concept and layout. The materiels for the building and sign leave me scratching my head, though.
Dr. Cossack: I like the custom giant mushroom, but I'm not sure where this would fit in a city...?
Muffins Smelting Factory
Anonymous_SoFar: It's just a bunch of furnaces.
Dr. Cossack: The outdoors of the building nails the "industrial factory" vibe. The inside looks impressive, if not a bit repetitive. The supervisor's office on the second floor is a great touch!
WindRider739: While the exterior is outstanding and the supervisor's box is perfect, the interior feels a bit cramped and repetitive.
Muncie Trading Post
Anonymous_SoFar: I have a feeling that it is unfinished but it looks pretty.
Dr. Cossack: The trading post idea is good, but the floors look desperatly empty. One would expect to find chests or secured lockers. Also, too much nether brick makes it look somewhat sinister.
WindRider739: It sounds like a cool idea but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. It's very empty and seems unfinished. In addition, the materiel use is questionable.
Nether mini mansion
Anonymous_SoFar: Mini mansion is mini, I like it.
Dr. Cossack: It looks like you were off to a good start, but any mansion without a single bed is missing something!
WindRider739: Cute but not an adequate use of your talents or the space provided.
Ode to modern art
Anonymous_SoFar: Well, looks like shit just like modern art, I like it.
Dr. Cossack: I kind of get where you were going with this, but it lacks some variety and completely oversteps the lot's limits.
WindRider739: wut? Also you went outside your area.
Anonymous_SoFar: Soo, a half destroyed building. wat
Dr. Cossack: This doesn't look structurally sound... Using another material (wood?) to represent the building's ruined structure would have helped making it look more realistic.
WindRider739: Outstanding concept and true to the real life Muncie, but it seems incredibly bare and lack-luster.
The White Stallion Bar and Grill
Anonymous_SoFar: It's incomplete, but good try.
Dr. Cossack: I like how this is coming along, but it unfortunately looks way unfinished! I'd love to see it fully complete and furnished.
WindRider739: The idea was good but it feels empty and unfinished.
Grenkin's Fresh Fruit, Fresh Veg, and Flowers
Anonymous_SoFar: Good try.
Dr. Cossack: Better luck next time with the deadline!
WindRider739: The idea sounded awesome, but it's unfinished.
Anonymous_SoFar: Good try.
Dr. Cossack: Fun idea that would have needed more time!
WindRider739: You deserve a gold star.
Anonymous_SoFar: Great area, love what you did with the drapes.
Dr. Cossack: Like your sanity, your entry can't be found.
WindRider739: Above and beyond anything you've ever created.
One building, made by Dr. Cossack, was also made in Muncie as a non-competing entry.
Dr. Cossack: Have It Your Way! (tm)
WindRider739: Caving in to corporate sponsors in order to keep the server alive is dispicable. People don't even have to order here; they just stand in one spot and machines fire the food into their faces. You're a sell-out, but the cars were a nice touch.
