Monthly challenges update: September 2022
From Doctacosa

Back to school? Back to work? Who cares, time for more Minecraft! Read on for the return of the Hunter's Lodge and an extension to AlexTheTrain's building contest, among other things.

Kenorland: Death Seeker Returns!

The challenge of Death Seeker returns, after its premiere event in April! As before, your goal is to gather as many unique death messages as possible.

Unlike last time, however, getting killed by different mobs will count as different deaths. See if you can get slain by zombies, husks AND drowned!

Merit Points will be awarded in the same model as Race Away: the player with the highest score will get 30 points, second place 29, and so on until the 30th player with 1 point.

Extension to the ongoing building contest - stores and plants

As some players were caught by surprise with the end of August and Alex's building contest, it was decided to extend it by two more weeks: the new deadline is 14 September. Additionally, if the theme of Plants vs Zombies wasn't inspiring you, you can choose to decorate the garden with a variety of plants instead. Let's see your green thumbs!

If you prefer, on the other side of the street, you can build any of the themed stores available.

Check the original news post for a reminder of the rules and location.

Science

The Hunter's Lodge returns this month with a fresh coat of paint, some plastic surgery, a few new organs, and a new passport! The place has almost been redesigned from the ground-up, and should now run a bit smoother comparitively to what had been there since it opened.

If you've not heard of the Hunter's Lodge before, it- along with the Lost Woods and the Dragon Priests, were the first three Science Areas on the server, dating back to 2017!

The Hunter's Lodge is an area where you can go out into the surrounding 'badlands' and hunt mobs to your heart's content, day or night, vanilla mobs or stronger challenge varients! The Lodge can spawn in 4 difficulty assortments, Easy, Normal, Hard, and Raid Boss; Easy, Normal, and Hard mobs can drop items used within the Lodge to craft strong armor and weapons to use within or elsewhere! Raid Bosses switch out on a monthly basis, and are best done in a group!

New to the Hunter's Lodge is a currency called Hunter's Mark, which can be used across the many traders within the Lodge. You can convert monster drops into it, obtain it directly from some rarer mobs, or complete a Easy/Normal/Hard wave to obtain it as a reward!

On that last note, the Lodge can now track your hunting progress across the 4 difficulties. After activating any of the waves, press the 'Prey Tracking' button to find out how many mobs of each type you've killed! This button will also notify you when all mobs have been found, as well as provide a reward for doing so!

In the old version of the Hunter's Lodge, the different armor sets were bought seperately from different merchants. Now, you can upgrade your existing armor into the more powerful forms with new upgrade stations! Bring the same set of armor with you along into other areas of Science as you progress, and come back here to strengthen it further!

A viewing area has also been provided displaying the mobs possible from all 4 difficulties, and their related drops!

Outside the redesigns and quality of life improvements, support for some newer end-game content has also been added. It's not yet available, but stay tuned...

Special thanks to Rebbica007 for assistance with the refurbishment and rewiring!

--

Naturally, as part of redesigning an area, existing items for said area have been massively modified. If you have used the Hunter's Lodge any time before the release of 1.19, please take a look here to see how you can be compensated!

--

Raid Boss wise, it's time to catch up! Gothmog, Lord of the Balrog, the Rancor, and the Warlock are all visiting the Badlands for the month of September, get them while they're hot! Check the Monthly Challenges wiki page for a list of all mobs and drops for this month!

New Horsemen Quests are also available for all five of the Four Horsemen. Plus, don't forget to submit an application to gather tokens toward your Acolyte status!

Guilds

As with every new month, the guilds have new targets. You have until the end of this month to complete them and claim your tokens in each world! You can also continue progressing on Gondwana's Specialist tasks. The targets aren't to your liking? Masters can choose to drop suggestions in Gondwana's guildhall for the next month!

If you need details on any of these, the wiki page about the Monthly Challenges is updated as soon as each of these is ready at the beginning of the month!
