It's time for our next building contest! Here's Coneva with the story and relevant information.
There are games to be won, so be sure to enter!
Many years ago a massive mining expedition was undertaken by several brave workers who risked life and limb to glean the glittering bounties sitting low in the earth. The small mining outpost of Gravelton was established to support the workers, but when the mining teams had extracted all they could with the supplies they had, they abandoned the town and it fell into the forgotten realms of history.
Recently, however, some workers returned to the area, with new and upgraded supplies, attempting to delve deeper into the earth for more riches.. what they found instead, were the remnants of past civilizations. Using their new tools, they were able to excavate some pieces of these civilizations and bring them to the surface to study.
Several statues were uncovered, and the stories behind them discovered…
CONTEST
You are to build a ‘ruined statue’- that is: a statue that was built long ago and has fell into ruin. In addition, you are to tell the story of the statue- its civilization, how/why it came to be built, and what happened that caused it to become forgotten: Was there a catastrophe? A conquering people? A revolt?
There will not be pre-marked locations- you will need to determine the size you need and mark your own plot. The area within which to build is around the gully, where the mines are, across from Gravelton. You can build on the top of that surrounding gravel area. Do not build underground. Please make sure to mark a path to your build if you are farther away from town.
Criteria/Requirements
Part 1) The statue: although a ruin, the statue must be recognizable within the realm of your story. Meaning a pile of stones, while it might fit your story, will lack any recognizable feature of the former statue, and will thus be scored lower. You can use any blocks needed to create the statue (and the story of its fall if needed- such as a flooded city…). Creativity and fitting the story will be the primary criteria for scoring.
Part 2) The story: you will need to write a story about the statue. You should cover how it came to be, the story of its people/creators and what happened. It does not have to be long but a nicely fleshed story will do better than a two line briefing. Writing itself will not be judged, but it should be legible enough for the readers to understand.
The contest will run from May 7-May 28.
Oh, and the prizes? Vintage Story game key for the top 2 (or 3); negotiable if already owned.
To get to Gravelton, from Central in Laurasia, take the North Nether line to Lily Keep station. On the same floor, take the line toward Teulu Nav Hub, then switch to the Gravelton line.
Alternatively, during Events Nights, you can use the End of Time. Enter the Additional Attractions section, go up the tower a bit and enter the Gravelton door.
