Monthly challenges update: June 2022
From Doctacosa

Make sure to read through the entire news post, there are some notable new features and changes found within!

Polls!

First, some feedback: we have three new polls to get your opinion!

Kenorland: Race Away!

This month marks the return of a classic - Race Away!

Your goal, as always, is to run to the East as far as you can within the month. Get to the highest X coordinate possible; your highest position will count at the end. Don't expect to rely on horses or the Nether, as both options are disabled! Using the /pos on command might be useful; don't stray more than 1000 blocks on each side as you could be bounced back with unpredictable results.

New this month, to keep things fresh, is a different world generation from Twixxi. Those who liked to dig their way to victory might need a different strategy, while ocean boaters might run dry. Check it out!

Merit Points will be awarded in the usual model for this event: the player with the highest score will get 30 points, second place 29, and so on until the 30th player with 1 point.

Science

The agonising heat of summer returns to the Hunter's Lodge! Have a little fun in the sun with Heat Miser and the Bone Tower. Stay cool.

New Horsemen Quests are also available for all five of the Four Horsemen. Plus, don't forget to submit an application to gather tokens toward your Acolyte status!

Guilds

As with every new month, the guilds have new targets. You have until the end of this month to complete them and claim your tokens!

If you need details on any of these, the wiki page about the Monthly Challenges is updated as soon as each of these is ready at the beginning of the month!

Dragon Priests update

The Dragon Priests have had a bit of an overhaul over the last few months, culminating in this most recent update!

For those of you that aren't aware, within Laurasia's End dimension exists 8 (9) Dragon Priests that spawn now beneath a grand arena situated around the End Portal. Fight these Priests to obtain Dragon Shards, nifty loot you can use to buy the first set of Dragon Claw tools, end materials, Shulker Boxes, and more! If you're lucky and receive a Wooden Mask, you can fight a boss Priest for some rarer loot!

The Dragon Priests are one of the first Challenge areas on the server, and as such had aged quite a bit over the years. In this new refresh, there's been a few changes:

  • The Priests now spawn underneath the End Arena as opposed to ontop of it
  • There are now spawners that are generated with them, to make fighting them repeatedly easier!
  • The Dragon Priests now scale in difficulty with your progress through the Challenge Areas; as you obtain certificates, they spawn in more frequently, get tougher themselves, but also are more likely to drop their usual loot; along with some new drops!
  • Three new items have been added along with them, to match their other new drops; the Greater Shock Arrow, Greater Smoke Arrow, and Greater Blood Arrow.
  • Dragon Priest Miraak also increases in difficulty as you rank up, and while his drops become more frequent at higher ranks, he doesn't obtain any new drops... for now...
  • The Happy Mask Salesman and Dragon Merchant have also been updated with new trades, giving more options for the Dragon Priest loot!

Dragon Priests

The Dragon Priests are available via any End Portal on Laurasia! Below are Nether directions on how to get to a few of them:

  • North Nether Rail -> Lily Keep (3rd Stop), End Portal
  • East Nether Rail -> Doctrailia (1st Stop), End Portal (2nd Floor)
  • East Nether Rail -> Super Shroom (3rd Stop), End Portal (2nd Floor)
  • West Nether Rail -> Mesa's Edge (3rd Stop), End Portal (2nd Floor)
  • South Nether Rail -> DeNile (2nd Stop), End Portal (2nd Floor)

Transmog Station

A new feature to the Horsemen Guild went live in April; the Transmog Station! This nifty installment allows you to take the stats from a science helmet, and apply them to any other player head you like!

A fee of 32 Horseman Points will net you a Transmog Token, which will allow you to perform this change. You can access the Transmog Station via the door within the Horsemen Guild Reception Hall, accessible from the Creeper Citadel and from Central at the below locations:

There are some restrictions, and a set of information to follow in order to do this, which can be found both in bookform in the station, as well as below:

"This station changes the appearance of a Science player head! Stats, enchantments, lore, etc. will be kept! Only the visual appearance will be altered.

All the conversions are FINAL and Staff cannot revert the changes. If the new cosmetic head is placed or lost, it cannot be repaired. Any upgrades to the original Science item DO NOT get applied to any Transmog head you may have.

This Transmog station only works with PLAYER HEADS not helmets. Mob heads, such as creeper, zombie, skeleton, wither, etc. WILL NOT work. A step by step guide on how to use this station follows.

Transmog Usage

  1. Obtain a player head texture you would like your Science player head to look like.
  2. Bring your Science & Cosmetic player head with you to the Transmog Station.
  3. Using 32 Horseman Points, purchase a Transmogrification Token for each player head you'd like to convert!
  4. Load the Cosmetic player head into the hopper at the back of the station.
    1. Cosemtic player heads will be destroyed, so any enchantments, lore and names will be lost. There are no refunds for this process
  5. To the left of the Cosmetic Head loader, go through the door to begin!
  6. Wear the Science player head you wish to have the texture overwritten.
  7. Press the button to continue!
  8. Read the Terms and Conditions for using the Transmog Station. Flip the levers to agree.

Terms & Conditions

  • I agree the cosmetic player head has the correct appearance.
  • I agree the Transmog player head has the stats, lore, etc., I wish to keep.
  • I agree if I place the new player head, it will not be repaired.
  • I agree that once all the levers are pulled, the Transmog process cannot be reversed.
    • By pulling all the levers, you are hereby responsible for your Cosmetic overwritten player head. Staff can do nothing with this player head.
  1. Wait for the mob that has your player head to die (you can help the process).
  2. Pick up your new Cosmetic overwritten Science player head and enjoy!"

Thanks to Twixxi for this marvelous addition!
