Laurasia partially restored from backups
From Doctacosa

Laurasia was hit by a large griefing wave tonight and had to be partially restored from backups. This only affects the overworld side, and only in specific locations. As the backups used were about 40 hours old, it's possible that some of your builds and items in chests were lost. Personal inventories and enderchest should be fine. Please contact any helper or op and we'll reiumburse your losses.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

DynMap and FastCraft are back!
From Doctacosa

DynMap is back online!

The team behind DynMap finally found a workaround for the frozen entities problem that some of you saw during our tests on Nena. I've uploaded the newest version, so you can once again track yourself and others! The maps themselves need to be regenerated to include the latest changes; that's going to run for several hours at least.

FastCraft is back online!

The quick crafting utility makes its return as well, in a newly recoded version. As a reminder, FastCraft allows you to quickly craft items based on what's currently in your inventory, without needing to place items in the crafting grid first. This is disabled by default: type in /fc toggle to enable or disable it. It will display the new interface over any existing crafting table.

End resets disabled in Laurasia

Considering that I couldn't find any working solution to cleanly reset Laurasia's End, I've disabled that entirely. There will be no resets in the coming future, although that might return if something can be done about it. As such, any permanent construction work should still happen within Rodinia's End only.

New staff members are in!
From Doctacosa

First things first, I'd like to thank everyone who showed interest in helping. I got more answers than I expected, which is always a good sign for the community as a whole!

Without further delay, I'd like to introduce Primagen and Raegal as Helpers, Coneva and GingeKoda to maintain our Facebook page, plus CaptainVoxel on the Tumblr front! The latter three will get the Media rank as a sign of this. Congratulations to everyone! All of you will be getting a forum message shortly with the details on how to access your new abilities.

The YouTube and Twitch positions are still open as of now, anyone with a bit of experience on that front, please contact me!

Once again, thanks to everyone interested in helping!

Resource packs updated for 1.9
From Doctacosa

The resource packs have been updated for Minecraft 1.9! There are no changes within this time around, only the version number was increased so that the game no longer complains that the files are outdated.

If you don't want to redownload any packs, you don't need to: just confirm when Minecraft complains that the pack was made for an older version of the game, and it will work just fine.

Help wanted!
From Doctacosa

It has been a while since the last call as many people in the current staff roster have proven to have some serious staying power. I've been working on several additions to hopefully boost the population of the Creeper's Lab, and with the usually busy summer season coming up, I believe that now's the time to grow the staff ranks! This time around, I'm looking for at least or 1 or 2 Helpers, 1 YouTube / Twitch creator and 1 Social Media contact.

As a reminder, the tasks of a helper are focused mostly on helping the community by answering questions, with a much smaller focus on special commands than ops. This includes:

  • Greeting the new players and answering any questions they might have
  • Checking on those players to make sure they understand and follow the rules
  • Getting players unstuck due to server bugs (it happens!)
  • As a last resort, kicking and/or banning troublesome players

The focus of the YouTube / Twitch creator is two-fold. Such a person could produce new videos showcasing the server itself, our builds and ongoing events, then post them on our YouTube channel for the world to see. While others might contribute episodes once in a while, whoever applies to this position should expect to be the primary content creator. Alternatively, such a person could also use our official Twitch.tv channel to stream and create highlights of their ongoing play sessions and events on the server. You're free to apply to one side or both of the video aspect. If you've already done videos before, don't hesitate to send a sample link our way! Depending of the applicant's interests, this could also be split in two positions.

The Social Media contact would help to post content and get involved with players on some of our social media channels, mostly for Facebook, Twitter and/or Tumblr. We've got fans who like all three networks, but these places have been pretty quiet lately. Hopefully, someone could add some energy to any of these networks by posting screenshots, community updates, asking people to exchange on specific subjects, and more! You can apply to post on any or all three of these, depending on what you're currently involved with. We want someone able to get and keep people engaged!

Note that only currently established and active players will be considered. To apply, please send me a private message through the forums. I'll announce the new staff members in a week or two from now, depending of the replies I get.

I'd like to take a moment to thank both Septina and WindRider739 who have helped us while they could. Wind was especially instrumental in setting up many of the Creeper's Lab's earliest attractions and community feel. They have both been returned to Trusted status for inactivity.

Servers updated to 1.9.2, Mu launched
From Masterlink

All survival servers have been updated to 1.9.2! This new version is backwards compatible with 1.9, so you can either stay on the old version or switch your Minecraft client to use the latest. Jumping over to 1.9.2 is still recommended so you get the latest bug fixes!

Mu launch

In other news, Skreelink has added something on his side of things: the return of the cinema server, now known as Mu!

For those not in the know, the cinema server allows several people to come online together, stand in a purpose-built theater, and watch a movie at the same time as other players! This is done through a special server and client mod allowing web pages, including video sites such as YouTube, to be displayed in-game.

Due to this special requirement, it's not possible to directly move from the Creeper's Lab or Miranda to Mu. Instead, you need to download and install a special Minecraft client running 1.7.10 and use that to connect to a dedicated address. The all-in-one setup makes it easy to get going.

This forum topic has all the detailed information you need, including how to install the modified Minecraft client, create your own cinema buildings and screens, and more!

In addition to Mu being launched, Miranda and Ouroboros have also been updated to 1.9.2.
