I've reconfigured part of the server's settings so that the End can be reset without requiring an entire server restart. This will allow me to reset the End every few days as needed instead of every week or two, which will be useful now that we have more players interested in facing that challenge.
As a reminder, the End on the server gets periodically reset to give all players a chance to face the Ender Dragon, earn an egg and score the related achievement. Go forth, brave adventurers!

This is of course good news.. but only one issue arrises that I can think of. It means the dragon will be respawned more often, and without notice. So anyone that happens to just want either endstone/obsidian or to kill a few enders for pearls, might walk into an unexpected surprise. Then they'll either have to wait, or take someone's dragon kill to obtain these materials. A plausible solution would include the 'second end' world that was requested in another thread. Although, the second end would run out of obsidian and mineable endstone in time. Resulting in the previous requirement. Overall though, it's better than newer users having to wait a couple weeks or so just to have the dragon torn out from under them. I guess as long as it's not a set schedule (reset as needed) it will be a much better setup.
Personally though, I don't think the idea of a second end is really a good one. It'd be neat to build in the space-ish terrain.. but it's too small for a community to really build in, it'd be claimed for maybe a couple of people. The only way I could see a second end being a good thing for building, would be if it were somehow spawned much larger and potentially mob spawns reduced, changed, or disabled with the high amount of enders that spawn there. Otherwise, all I can see is exp grinder territory.

There is a risk associated with travelling to the End, and this new setting won't affect that: it merely increases the odds of a dragon encounter! We have many more active players now than we had when I first began to do End resets, so I need to pick up the pace accordingly.

I need to see moar "Player has been slain by Enderdragon" on mah screen! Or spawn 2 for events... that'd be an awesome community event, dragon slaying together. Moreso than we do now. But yeah, still great to give the new users faster chance, maybe make a request section/form if the dragon is dead to reset it?
