Sculpting contest results!
This page presents all the entries received during the sculpting contest, which took place on the Creeper's Lab from November 29th to December 6th, 2014. The entries are listed below from the highest to the lowest score.
Three judges, Anonymous_SoFar, MediaKlepto and WindRider739 evaluated each entry on a note from 0 to 10. Criteras included originality, use of the block, use of the small area, etc. Additionally, the judges provided comments to explain how each entry was rated.
Anonymous_SoFar: BOATS... its pretty, and it has BOATS. Also the Compass rows face the cardinal directions, bonus points!
MediaKlepto: This is an amazing use of space, and for the size it's incredibly detailed. AND it points north. There should be more of these built elsewhere of different materials.
WindRider739: Outstanding planning and use of space. You can tell what it is, it isn't shrunk down too small, the details are great and the compass at the bottom is a nice touch. I feel like it could have used something on the sides, though. Maybe some port holes to break up the flatness.
Anonymous_SoFar: Great use of space, and material choice. Looks very pretty
MediaKlepto: Love the use of space and the overall shape. Really creative and not something I expected to see at all.
WindRider739: Outstanding all the way around. Fantastic use of space and planning and a gorgeous design. I'm surprised you didn't make this out of sandstone, however. I feel like it would have been infinitely more fitting for an hourglass!
Anonymous_SoFar: Creative use of space and a very original design. The CL logo stands tall once again!
MediaKlepto: This really makes me wish we could have used regular ice without flooding the place. I love the use of space and the dimension of it.
Anonymous_SoFar: Its a Jungle gym for grown-ups... in a video game... so a jungle gym?
MediaKlepto: ERMAHGERD YOU UNFINISHED SOMETHING SOMEONE MARK THE CALENDER!
WindRider739: I don't know what this is supposed to be, but I really like it. Multiple layers of intricately and carefully carved stone make it gorgeous and I wish there was more room to view it from. You utilized all of your space and it doesn't look like you misclicked once.
Anonymous_SoFar: Ice pumpkin golem thing, does this represent the coldness of your heart? Great use of space, and detailed (for the most part)
MediaKlepto: For the short amount of planning, this is really surprisingly intricate. I love how angry it looks, for being a faceless ice-pumpkin-golem. It's actually kind of terrifying.
WindRider739: I don't know what this is. Looks like a giant dude coming out of the ice. Great use of space and definition.
Anonymous_SoFar: Still a big cube, but Fractals....
MediaKlepto: For being a big ol' box of boxes, it's surprisingly creative. And, you know, a fractal.
WindRider739: I don't know what this thing is. It looks like more of whatever it is should lock into it. It's neat to look at, though if only a bit bulky.
Anonymous_SoFar: It's a stick figure with a scorpion tail? I mean, at least you tried.
MediaKlepto: To be honest, if you hadn't told me what it was (or if Himo hadn't guessed after you'd hinted at it), I would never have known what it was. Good effort though!
WindRider739: Considering that you changed your design on the fly after messing up your original idea, this turned out surprisingly well. It definitely has the look of modern art; sleek, sharp and nonsensical. I can't help but feel like you could have used your space better, though
Anonymous_SoFar: Moar fractals?
MediaKlepto: It's a teeny-tiny fractal. :X
WindRider739: While I enjoy the minimalist style of art, I feel like your companion cube doesn't use as much space as it could have. On the other hand, it's definitely one of the cubist cubes I have ever seen. Good job.
Anonymous_SoFar: the second best champion of the unfinishing, Almost like his Dad.
MediaKlepto: It's so happy. xD
WindRider739: I laughed when I saw this. I was not expecting a giant derpy smiley face. That's outstanding. I like the little dude you put on top of it, too.
Anonymous_SoFar: the true champion of the unfinishing, just like his Dad.
MediaKlepto: Still cleaner than Mikey's~
WindRider739: I can't tell whether you're a genius or a madman, but you giant cube is great. 6 points just for daring to do what no one else would.
Anonymous_SoFar: some thought, buuuuut the "screw it" and the ignoring the warnings about using diamond picks, you kinda lost your chance.
MediaKlepto: I waaaaaaaarned you, dude. :I
Two other creations were also made in the spirit of the contest, but weren't officially entered as the builders were also judges.
